University High School's JV team played against Athenian at Crocker Amazon #2 and dominated in the rain. Artificial fields in San Francisco are allowing youth to participate in more soccer games throughout the year.
After taking a couple months off from photography (commissioned gigs) as a result of the birth of my son (Oh, I have still been making imagery!), it was nice to get outside in the rain and make some photography of young men enjoying “The Beautiful Game.”
San Francisco soccer is developing with leaps and bounds with the never closing artificial fields. Finally, soccer is being played as it should be…always, never weather permitting. Maybe, we will finally be more competitive with the rest of the state and start winning some State Cup Championships.
As for the action packed imagery below…Earlier this month I was commissioned to make images of the 2011 Frosh/Soph Soccer Team, aka JV Soccer Team, for an end-of-the-year party. Of course the day we finally were able to book a date…it rained! The water droplets made for an interesting Team Portrait at the end but during the match I was able to make a few spectacular images of the boys slipping and sliding their way to a victory. While only two images were selected for the slideshow below, many more actions shots were captured of not only University student-athletes, but also a few of the Athenian players as well.
