2011 CYO 7-1 Soccer: Stuart Hall vs Cathedral
Stuart Hall jumps ahead of Cathedral 1-0 early in the second half.Final game of the regular season, Stuart Hall needed a win or tie to advance into the CYO Division 7-1 Playoffs. Stuart Hall opened the scoring early in the second half but Cathedral equalized shortly afterwards. The teams ended in a 1-1 draw. Fourth-seed Stuart Hall will meet number one-seed St. Stephen.
I have been coaching Stuart Hall soccer for four seasons. Some team develop quicker than others but the leaps and bounds I witnessed from this season to their last game by Stuart Hall’s CYO 7-1 team, aka “B-team” was astonishing. The previous day I photographed the “A-team” beat Cathedral in the BAIAL League to win the number one seeding. A few of the players play for both teams but the style, communication and determination I observed last Friday was unbelievable.
Before the game on Saturday, I asked the boys to repeat the hardwork…they did and earned a tie against a team that had demolished us earlier in the season.
Stuart Hall will be a dangerous team come playoffs, we are peaking at the right moment and I trust the boys will continue working hard!
Cathedral tied the game 1-1 and was unable to secure the victory. The two teams could meet in the finals if they both win their semi-final game! That would be a great match to see.
