2011 CYO 6-2 Boys Soccer: Town Ties Stuart Hall

Stuart Hall celebrate the go-ahead goal against Town.

Wow! Last year I coached the Stuart Hall team and we did a ton of work on basic passing, shooting, and learning “The Beautiful Game!” The boys have obviously caught the soccer bug because they have gone beyond what they can develop in practice alone. What I mean is, these boys are practicing/learning on their own time…whether they watch professional soccer on TV or attended games, it is obvious that their learning curve has taken off!

Congrats boys! You make me so proud. Sorry I couldn’t be there for you this year…but I couldn’t be prouder of how your skills and team knowledge of the game has improved. Big props to Coach Tristan and Chris!!!

As for the game, well played by both sides…could have gone either way…but Stuart Hall opened the second half with a goal and looked poised to take control with calm, cool, and collected passing. But Town didn’t fret and strung a few passes together themselves and within five minutes (Ever hear of the five-minute “rule” in soccer?) Town equalized the game at one goal-a-piece. Later in the second half it seemed like the ref was attempting to put his stamp on it and awarded a PK…but alas, the ball never lies as the Town player touched the ball wide left of the goal.

Town equalized the match less than five minutes after Stuart Hall had broked the intial 0-0 tie. The match ended in a draw, 1-1.
